"NEW" - Get to know your digital SLR camera - photography Lesson - £70 - special introductory price - per person:

The aim of this lesson is get students, gathered in a relaxed setting, to learn how to get the best from their cameras, develop confidence in their photography and have fun through a practical session.

Working on location at Hampstead Heath, we start off by going through your understanding of your camera to discover the gaps in your knowledge.

We then go through the basic functions of the camera, making sure all students understand the relationship between shutter speed and aperture.

With the practical session, we then take photos and learn how to use the speed, aperture and exposure to get the best results. You’ll see results instantly and realise how simple it is to improve on the basics.

We then go on to learn about exposure settings on your camera to get the best use of the light.

We will then practise the simple art of setting up photos to make them more eye-catching and to get the composition right.

You will be given a leaflet to take away with everything we’ve learned on the lesson and at the end we’ll have a chance to go through any other questions the you may want to ask.

Lessons will last around three hours, including a coffee & discussion break, please allow 31/4 hours altogether from the time of meeting until drop off back to meeting point. Please bring some small change for a drink and/or snack from the cafe, should you require one.

Practicalities:

Please wear comfortable footwear as we will be walking over the Heath, but no-where too muddy, or too taxing, so don't worry!

Please note we won't have anywhere to put bags, so please travel lightly and use a back-pack so your hands are free.

We will be stopping for a cafe break, and a chance to sit down and ask any questions, talk through anything, but please bring water with you if you think you'll require it.

There are toilets & a cafe near where we will have the lesson.

You must bring with you a digital SLR camera (though if you haven’t got one because you are taking the lesson before you buy one, you may be able to share mine, please ask at time of booking).

Please familiarise yourself with the function buttons on your camera (bring your manual if you’re unsure) as this is a general DSLR lesson and you will need to know how to locate the functions we're using on your camera, though I can help you if you get stuck.

You won't need to bring a pen and paper to the lesson, as it's a hands-on class and you'll be given a hand-out to take away to remind you of everything we've gone through.

I will be there ten minutes before the lesson is scheduled to start. If you are going to be late for any reason, please phone through, on the mobile: 07766 241763. If you are more than 10 minutes late, you are not guaranteed a place on the lesson and your fee will not be refunded, but I will do my best to help you find us to avoid this, as long as you phone.
